Description

Get ready for a frightfully delicious treat with these Spooky Spiderweb Brownie Cups! These individual brownie cups are topped with a charming spiderweb made from white chocolate, making them the perfect addition to your Halloween party spread. They’re surprisingly simple to make and are sure to be a hit with both kids and adults!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (18.25 ounce) package devil’s food cake mix
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup (6 ounces) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup (6 ounces) white chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable shortening
  • Black edible food coloring marker or melted black candy melts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour 24 muffin cups, or line with paper liners.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the devil’s food cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and water. Beat with an electric mixer on low speed until just combined. Then, beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  3. Stir in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  4. Spoon the batter evenly into the prepared muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full.
  5. Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool in the muffin tin for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. Once the brownie cups are completely cool, prepare the spiderweb topping. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the white chocolate chips and vegetable shortening. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth and melted.
  7. Transfer the melted white chocolate to a small zip-top bag. Snip off a tiny corner of the bag.
  8. On a piece of parchment paper, pipe concentric circles of white chocolate onto each brownie cup.
  9. Using a toothpick or skewer, drag lines from the center outwards to create a spiderweb effect.
  10. Once the white chocolate webs are set, use a black edible food coloring marker or melted black candy melts to draw a spider on each web, or simply draw a few small black dots around the edge of the web for a spooky touch.

Notes

  • For an extra rich brownie flavor, you can use a fudgy brownie mix instead of a devil’s food cake mix.
  • Ensure the brownie cups are completely cool before adding the white chocolate topping, otherwise, the white chocolate will melt and spread too much.
  • If you don’t have a black edible marker, you can melt a small amount of black candy melts and pipe the spider details with a toothpick.
  • These can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
