Description
Witch Cauldron Brownies are a spooky and delicious dessert, perfect for Halloween or any themed party. These fudgy brownies are baked in a cauldron shape and decorated to look like a bubbling witch’s brew.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Green candy melts or frosting for ‘brew’
- Edible glitter or sprinkles for decoration
- Black food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter and granulated sugar until well combined.
- Stir in vanilla extract and then add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
- Let the brownies cool completely in the pan.
- Once cooled, cut the brownies into cauldron shapes. You can do this by cutting out a large circle and then adding two small rectangular handles on opposite sides. Alternatively, cut into squares and then use a knife to carve out a cauldron shape.
- Melt the green candy melts according to package directions. If using frosting, tint it green with food coloring if desired.
- Spread the melted candy melts or frosting over the brownies to resemble a bubbling cauldron.
- Decorate with edible glitter or sprinkles for a magical effect.
Notes
- For an extra spooky touch, you can add a drop of black food coloring to the green candy melts/frosting to create a darker, more mysterious brew.
- These brownies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- Feel free to get creative with decorations! Small gummy worms or candy spiders can add to the Halloween theme.
