Description
Cool off with this vibrant Watermelon Mint Agua Fresca! This easy-to-make drink is the perfect blend of sweet watermelon, refreshing mint, and a touch of lime. It’s incredibly hydrating and a delightful treat for any occasion, especially on a warm day.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 cups cubed watermelon, seeds removed
- 1/2 cup fresh mint leaves
- 1/4 cup fresh lime juice (from about 2 limes)
- 2–4 tablespoons granulated sugar or agave nectar (adjust to taste)
- 4 cups cold water
- Lime slices and mint sprigs, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Blend the Watermelon: In a blender, combine the cubed watermelon and mint leaves. Blend until completely smooth.
- Strain the Mixture: Pour the watermelon mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a large pitcher or container to remove any pulp or seeds.
- Add Lime Juice and Sweetener: Stir in the lime juice and sugar (or agave nectar). Start with 2 tablespoons of sugar and add more to taste, depending on the sweetness of your watermelon.
- Add Water: Pour in the cold water and stir well to combine.
- Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the agua fresca for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Serve cold, over ice, and garnish with lime slices and mint sprigs, if desired.
Notes
- For a stronger mint flavor, you can muddle the mint leaves with the sugar and lime juice before adding the watermelon.
- Adjust the sweetness to your preference. Some watermelons are sweeter than others, so taste and adjust accordingly.
- This agua fresca is best enjoyed fresh, but you can store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
- Feel free to add a splash of sparkling water for extra fizz.
