Description

This classic Strawberry Cobbler recipe is a delightful dessert, perfect for showcasing the sweet, juicy flavors of fresh strawberries. With a buttery, golden crust and a warm, bubbling berry filling, it’s a comforting treat that’s easy to make.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar, plus extra for sprinkling
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Optional: Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced strawberries, 1 cup sugar, flour, lemon juice, and salt. Gently toss to combine. Pour the strawberry mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Stir in the milk until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of the biscuit dough over the strawberry mixture.
  7. Sprinkle the top with a little extra sugar.
  8. Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the strawberry filling is bubbling.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, if desired.

Notes

  • For a thicker filling, you can add a tablespoon of cornstarch to the strawberries before baking.
  • If you prefer, you can use frozen strawberries. Thaw them slightly before adding them to the recipe.
  • Adjust the sugar to your preference based on the sweetness of your strawberries.
