Description

These Red Velvet Cookies are soft, chewy, and bursting with classic red velvet flavor. They’re perfect for any occasion!


Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon red food coloring (gel preferred)
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder and red food coloring to form a paste. Add to the wet ingredients and mix well.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  7. If using, stir in the white chocolate chips.
  8. Drop by rounded tablespoons onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving some space between each cookie.
  9. Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers are still slightly soft.
  10. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For a deeper red color, you can add a bit more food coloring.
  • If you don’t have white chocolate chips, you can substitute them with semi-sweet chocolate chips or omit them altogether.
  • These cookies are best enjoyed within a few days. Store them in an airtight container at room temperature.
