Description

Indulge in these rich and fudgy pumpkin chocolate chip brownies, a perfect fall dessert that combines the warmth of pumpkin spice with the irresistible allure of chocolate.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
  • ½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 cup (6 oz) semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan, or line with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until well combined. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time until fully incorporated.
  4. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together the pumpkin puree and pumpkin pie spice.
  7. Gently fold the pumpkin mixture into the brownie batter until streaks of pumpkin are visible but not fully incorporated for a marbled effect.
  8. Fold in ¾ cup of the chocolate chips.
  9. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan. Sprinkle the remaining ¼ cup chocolate chips over the top.
  10. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs attached (not wet batter).
  11. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • For an extra fudgy brownie, do not overbake.
  • Store cooled brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • Add a sprinkle of sea salt on top before baking for a sweet and salty contrast.
  • Consider adding chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts to the batter for added texture.
