Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup fresh plums, pitted and roughly chopped
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (from about 2–3 lemons)
- 3–4 cups cold water, or to taste
- Ice cubes
- Lemon slices and plum slices for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Make the Plum Syrup: In a saucepan, combine the chopped plums, sugar, and 1 cup of water.
- Simmer: Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the plums soften and release their juices (about 5-7 minutes).
- Strain: Remove from heat and let it cool slightly. Strain the plum mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl, discarding the solids.
- Combine: In a pitcher, combine the plum syrup, lemon juice, and cold water. Start with 3 cups of water and adjust to your preferred sweetness and tartness.
- Serve: Add ice cubes to the pitcher or individual glasses. Garnish with lemon and plum slices (optional). Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- For a more intense plum flavor, you can add a few extra plums to the blending process.
- Adjust the amount of sugar and water to your taste preferences.
- If you don’t have fresh plums, you can use frozen plums, thawed.
- For a sparkling version, add some club soda or sparkling water.
