- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

- For Garnish:
- 1/2 cup crushed candy canes
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, sugar, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder until well combined.
- Beat in the vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, until smooth.
- Gradually add the flour and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
- Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before frosting.
- For the frosting: In a large bowl, beat together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
- Gradually add the milk and peppermint extract, mixing until smooth. Add red food coloring, if desired, until you reach your desired color.
- Frost the cooled brownies with the peppermint frosting. Sprinkle with crushed candy canes.
- Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use dark cocoa powder.
- If you don’t have peppermint extract, you can substitute with vanilla extract and add a few drops of peppermint oil.
