Description

This easy nectarine crisp is the perfect summer dessert! Ripe, juicy nectarines are baked under a buttery, oat-filled topping for a delightful treat. It’s simple to make and always a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 68 ripe nectarines, sliced
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9-inch square baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced nectarines.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, oats, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  4. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Pour the nectarines into the prepared baking dish.
  6. Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the nectarines.
  7. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the nectarines are bubbling.
  8. Let cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve warm, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired.

Notes

  • For a tangier crisp, add a squeeze of lemon juice to the nectarines before baking.
  • Feel free to substitute other fruits like peaches or plums.
  • Store leftovers, covered, in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in the oven or microwave.
