Description

These adorable mini caramel apple pies are the perfect individual-sized dessert, bursting with warm apple filling and a rich caramel drizzle. A delightful treat for any occasion!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (2 sheets) refrigerated pie crusts
  • 4 cups thinly sliced peeled apples (about 4 medium apples)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce, for drizzling
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon coarse sugar (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 12-cup muffin tin.
  2. In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Toss gently to coat the apples evenly.
  3. Unroll the pie crusts. Using a 4-inch round cookie cutter, cut out 12 circles from the pie crusts.
  4. Gently press 6 of the pie crust circles into the prepared muffin tin cups, forming the bottom crusts.
  5. Divide the apple filling evenly among the 6 muffin cups. Dot the top of the filling with the small pieces of butter.
  6. Place the remaining 6 pie crust circles on top of the filling. Crimp the edges of the top and bottom crusts together to seal. Cut small vents in the top crusts with a knife.
  7. Brush the tops of the pies with the beaten egg wash and sprinkle with coarse sugar, if desired.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  9. Let the mini pies cool in the muffin tin for 10-15 minutes before carefully removing them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Drizzle with caramel sauce before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer caramel flavor, you can use homemade caramel sauce.
  • If you don’t have a muffin tin, you can use mini tart pans or bake the pies on a baking sheet. Adjust baking time as needed.
  • These mini pies can be made ahead of time and reheated gently before serving.
