Description
Indulge in a rich and decadent Hot Fudge Chocolate Pudding Cake, a dessert that combines the best of both worlds: a moist chocolate cake and a luscious, warm fudge sauce. This recipe is surprisingly easy to make and perfect for any chocolate lover!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, plus more for dusting
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 3/4 cups hot water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch square baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, 1/4 cup cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Beat with an electric mixer until well combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the brown sugar and remaining 1/2 cup cocoa powder. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter in the pan.
- Pour the hot water carefully over the cocoa-sugar mixture. Do not stir.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the cake is set and the sauce is bubbling. The cake will be on top, and the sauce will be at the bottom.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.
Notes
- For a richer chocolate flavor, use dark cocoa powder.
- Don’t stir the hot water into the cocoa-sugar mixture, as this is what creates the sauce.
- You can add a handful of chocolate chips to the batter for extra chocolatey goodness.
- This cake is best served warm, but can be stored, covered, at room temperature for up to 2 days. Reheat gently before serving.
