Description
Indulge in these decadent Halloween-themed chocolate truffles, perfect for a festive treat or party favor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces dark chocolate, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Optional: Cocoa powder, sprinkles, edible glitter for coating
Instructions
- Place chopped dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl.
- In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Do not boil.
- Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate. Let it sit for 5 minutes, then whisk gently until smooth and fully melted.
- Stir in the softened butter, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined and glossy.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap, pressing it directly onto the surface of the chocolate mixture to prevent a skin from forming. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until firm enough to roll.
- Once chilled, scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of the chocolate mixture and roll them into balls between your palms.
- Roll the truffles in your desired coating, such as cocoa powder, Halloween-themed sprinkles, or edible glitter.
- Store the truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Let them sit at room temperature for about 15-20 minutes before serving for the best texture.
Notes
- For an extra spooky touch, you can add a tiny drop of orange or green food coloring to the truffle mixture before chilling.
- Experiment with different types of chocolate like milk or white chocolate for varied flavors.
- These truffles make a wonderful homemade gift for Halloween.
