Description

Indulge in these decadent Halloween-themed chocolate truffles, perfect for a festive treat or party favor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces dark chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Optional: Cocoa powder, sprinkles, edible glitter for coating

Instructions

  1. Place chopped dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Do not boil.
  3. Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate. Let it sit for 5 minutes, then whisk gently until smooth and fully melted.
  4. Stir in the softened butter, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined and glossy.
  5. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap, pressing it directly onto the surface of the chocolate mixture to prevent a skin from forming. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until firm enough to roll.
  6. Once chilled, scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of the chocolate mixture and roll them into balls between your palms.
  7. Roll the truffles in your desired coating, such as cocoa powder, Halloween-themed sprinkles, or edible glitter.
  8. Store the truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Let them sit at room temperature for about 15-20 minutes before serving for the best texture.

Notes

  • For an extra spooky touch, you can add a tiny drop of orange or green food coloring to the truffle mixture before chilling.
  • Experiment with different types of chocolate like milk or white chocolate for varied flavors.
  • These truffles make a wonderful homemade gift for Halloween.
