- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (full-fat or non-fat)
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8×8 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar, applesauce, eggs, and vanilla extract.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Gently fold in the Greek yogurt until just combined. Do not overmix.
- If using, fold in the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before cutting and serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use dark cocoa powder.
- You can substitute the applesauce with mashed banana for added sweetness and flavor.
- Store leftover brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
