- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup rolled oats (ensure gluten-free)
Instructions
- Prepare the Cake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the gluten-free flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Gently fold in the diced apples.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
- Make the Crumble: In a separate bowl, combine the gluten-free flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and oats.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the cake batter.
- Bake: Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
