Ingredients
Scale
- 6 medium apples, such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp, peeled, cored, and diced
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch springform pan.
- In a large bowl, combine the diced apples, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and granulated sugar. Toss to coat.
- In a separate bowl, prepare the crumble topping: combine the cold butter, brown sugar, flour, and salt. Use a pastry blender or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Pour the apple mixture into the prepared springform pan.
- Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apples.
- Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the crumble is golden brown and the apples are tender.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before removing the sides.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the apple mixture.
- Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
- Leftover cake can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
