Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package (14.3 oz) Oreos
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Batter: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- Add Wet Ingredients: Gradually whisk in the milk and vanilla extract until the batter is smooth. Avoid overmixing; a few lumps are okay.
- Heat the Oil: Pour about 2-3 inches of vegetable oil into a deep fryer or a large, heavy-bottomed pot. Heat the oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a candy thermometer to ensure the correct temperature.
- Dip the Oreos: Dip each Oreo cookie into the batter, ensuring it’s fully coated.
- Fry the Oreos: Carefully place the batter-covered Oreos into the hot oil, a few at a time, being careful not to overcrowd the pot.
- Fry Until Golden: Fry for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove and Drain: Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried Oreos from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve: Dust with powdered sugar, if desired, and serve immediately while warm.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon to the batter.
- Make sure the oil is hot enough; otherwise, the Oreos will absorb too much oil.
- Serve immediately for the best texture.
- Experiment with different Oreo flavors for variety.
