Description

Indulge in a rich and decadent Crock Pot Chocolate Lava Cake, a delightful dessert that’s surprisingly easy to make. This recipe delivers a warm, gooey chocolate center that oozes with every spoonful, all cooked to perfection in your slow cooker.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, plus more for greasing
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, plus more for dusting
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Whipped cream or ice cream, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Grease and flour the inside of your crock pot, including the lid.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared crock pot.
  8. Cook on low for 2-3 hours, or until the edges are set and the center is still slightly soft. Cooking time may vary depending on your slow cooker. Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center; it should come out with moist crumbs.
  9. Let the cake cool in the crock pot for about 10 minutes before inverting it onto a serving plate.
  10. Serve warm, topped with whipped cream or ice cream, if desired.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate chips.
  • You can add a pinch of espresso powder to the batter to enhance the chocolate flavor.
  • If the cake is overcooked, the center will not be gooey. Check frequently towards the end of the cooking time.
  • Leftover cake can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently before serving.
