Description
A perfectly tart and sweet cranberry pie with a flaky, buttery crust. This classic holiday dessert is a crowd-pleaser!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (9-inch) unbaked pie crust
- 3 cups fresh cranberries, rinsed
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon orange zest
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the fresh cranberries, granulated sugar, flour, orange zest, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss gently to coat the cranberries evenly.
- Pour the cranberry mixture into the unbaked pie crust. Dot the top with the small pieces of butter.
- Cover the pie loosely with aluminum foil to prevent the crust from burning.
- Bake for 20 minutes.
- Remove the foil and continue baking for another 30-40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
- Let the pie cool completely on a wire rack before slicing and serving. This allows the filling to set properly.
Notes
- For an extra festive touch, you can add a lattice top crust.
- Serve warm or at room temperature. Delicious with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
- If fresh cranberries are not available, frozen cranberries can be used. Thaw them slightly before using.
