Description

These Coconut Chocolate Macaroons are a delightful treat that combines the chewiness of coconut with the richness of chocolate. They’re incredibly easy to make and perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups shredded coconut, unsweetened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine shredded coconut, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate clean bowl, whisk egg whites until frothy.
  4. Add the egg whites and vanilla extract to the coconut mixture. Stir until well combined.
  5. If using, gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the macaroons are golden brown and slightly firm to the touch.
  8. Let the macaroons cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can toast the coconut slightly before mixing.
  • Store macaroons in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • Feel free to add other mix-ins, such as chopped nuts or dried fruit.
