- 4 large egg whites
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine shredded coconut, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt.
- In a separate clean bowl, whisk egg whites until frothy.
- Add the egg whites and vanilla extract to the coconut mixture. Stir until well combined.
- If using, gently fold in the chocolate chips.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the macaroons are golden brown and slightly firm to the touch.
- Let the macaroons cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
