Description

These delightful cinnamon maple cookies are soft, chewy, and packed with warm, comforting flavors. Perfect for any occasion, they’re quick to make and always a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar, for rolling (optional)
  • 1/4 cup cinnamon sugar, for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and light brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the maple syrup, then the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. If using granulated sugar for rolling, place it in a shallow dish. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough and roll them into balls.
  7. (Optional) Roll each dough ball in the granulated sugar.
  8. Place the dough balls about 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are still slightly soft.
  10. (Optional) Immediately after removing from the oven, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
  11. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For chewier cookies, slightly underbake them.
  • Store cooled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • These cookies can be frozen before baking. Place dough balls on a baking sheet and freeze until firm, then transfer to a freezer bag. Bake from frozen, adding a minute or two to the baking time.
