Description

This Chocolate Orange Bundt Cake is a moist and flavorful dessert, perfect for any occasion. The combination of rich chocolate and zesty orange creates a delightful treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Zest of 2 oranges
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • For the Glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons orange juice
  • Orange zest for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch bundt pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together sugar, eggs, buttermilk, oil, vanilla extract, and orange zest.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared bundt pan.
  7. Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Make the Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar and orange juice until smooth. Add more orange juice if needed to reach desired consistency.
  10. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cake and garnish with orange zest, if desired.
  11. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a richer chocolate flavor, use dark cocoa powder.
  • Make sure your ingredients are at room temperature for the best results.
  • You can substitute regular milk for buttermilk if you don’t have it. Add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or white vinegar to the milk and let it sit for 5 minutes before using.
  • Store leftover cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
