Description
This classic blueberry pie recipe is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser! Sweet, juicy blueberries nestled in a flaky, golden crust make for the perfect dessert. Follow these simple steps to create a pie everyone will love.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (15 ounce) package refrigerated pie crusts
- 6 cups fresh blueberries
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 2 tablespoons butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 tablespoon milk (for brushing the crust)
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar (for sprinkling)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Place one pie crust in a 9-inch pie plate. Trim and crimp the edges.
- In a large bowl, gently toss together the blueberries, sugar, flour, and lemon zest.
- Pour the blueberry mixture into the prepared pie crust. Dot with butter.
- Top with the second pie crust. Trim and crimp the edges to seal. Cut several slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
- Brush the top crust with milk and sprinkle with sugar.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling. If the crust browns too quickly, cover the edges with foil.
- Let the pie cool completely on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For a richer pie crust, you can use homemade pie crust instead of store-bought.
- If using frozen blueberries, do not thaw them before using. You may need to add an extra tablespoon of flour to the filling.
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for an extra treat!
