Description

This classic blueberry pie recipe is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser! Sweet, juicy blueberries nestled in a flaky, golden crust make for the perfect dessert. Follow these simple steps to create a pie everyone will love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (15 ounce) package refrigerated pie crusts
  • 6 cups fresh blueberries
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for brushing the crust)
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar (for sprinkling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Place one pie crust in a 9-inch pie plate. Trim and crimp the edges.
  2. In a large bowl, gently toss together the blueberries, sugar, flour, and lemon zest.
  3. Pour the blueberry mixture into the prepared pie crust. Dot with butter.
  4. Top with the second pie crust. Trim and crimp the edges to seal. Cut several slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
  5. Brush the top crust with milk and sprinkle with sugar.
  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling. If the crust browns too quickly, cover the edges with foil.
  7. Let the pie cool completely on a wire rack before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For a richer pie crust, you can use homemade pie crust instead of store-bought.
  • If using frozen blueberries, do not thaw them before using. You may need to add an extra tablespoon of flour to the filling.
  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for an extra treat!
