Description

This blackberry crumble recipe is a classic dessert that’s easy to make and perfect for showcasing fresh, juicy blackberries. The buttery, crumbly topping complements the tartness of the berries beautifully.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups fresh blackberries
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar, plus extra for sprinkling
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, oats, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a 9-inch square baking dish, spread the blackberries evenly. Sprinkle with a tablespoon of granulated sugar.
  5. Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the blackberries.
  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.

Notes

  • For a crispier topping, you can use a combination of all-purpose flour and almond flour.
  • If you don’t have fresh blackberries, you can use frozen, but don’t thaw them first.
  • Adjust the amount of sugar to your preference, depending on the sweetness of the blackberries.
