Description

Delight in these charming Apple Dessert Cups, a perfect blend of tender baked apples, warm spices, and a delightful crumble topping. Easy to make and utterly delicious!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup (50g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup (50g) packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • Pinch of ground cloves
  • 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (45g) rolled oats
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large apples (such as Honeycrisp or Fuji), peeled, cored, and diced (about 2 cups)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease 6-8 muffin cups or ramekins.
  2. In a medium bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Stir in the cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves.
  4. Add the flour, rolled oats, and salt. Mix until just combined and a crumbly mixture forms.
  5. In a separate small bowl, toss the diced apples with lemon juice, cornstarch, and water.
  6. Divide half of the apple mixture among the prepared muffin cups or ramekins.
  7. Top each with a generous portion of the crumble mixture, pressing it down slightly.
  8. Add the remaining apple mixture on top of the crumble.
  9. Top with the remaining crumble mixture.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  11. Let cool slightly before serving warm, topped with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, if desired.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can add 1/4 cup of chopped pecans or walnuts to the crumble mixture.
  • If you prefer a softer crumble, you can bake the crumble mixture separately on a baking sheet until golden brown, then sprinkle it over the apples before serving.
  • These dessert cups can be assembled a few hours in advance and refrigerated before baking.
