Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Butter a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Pour the apple mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- In a separate medium bowl, whisk together 1 cup flour, 1/4 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in the cold butter cubes using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add the milk, stirring until just combined to form a soft dough. Do not overmix.
- Drop spoonfuls of the biscuit dough evenly over the apple mixture.
- Brush the tops of the biscuit dough with melted butter.
- Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender and bubbly.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
