- 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp recommended)
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, sugar, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder until well combined.
- Stir in the vanilla extract and eggs one at a time, mixing until smooth after each addition.
- Gradually add the flour, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- In a separate bowl, toss the diced apples with the cinnamon.
- Gently fold the apple mixture and nuts (if using) into the brownie batter.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
- Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.

- For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg or allspice to the apple mixture.
