Description

These Apple Brownies are a delightful fusion of fudgy chocolate brownies and the comforting flavors of apple pie. They’re the perfect treat for fall, combining the best of both worlds!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp recommended)
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, sugar, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder until well combined.
  3. Stir in the vanilla extract and eggs one at a time, mixing until smooth after each addition.
  4. Gradually add the flour, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. In a separate bowl, toss the diced apples with the cinnamon.
  6. Gently fold the apple mixture and nuts (if using) into the brownie batter.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  9. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg or allspice to the apple mixture.
  • If you prefer a more intense chocolate flavor, use dark cocoa powder.
  • Brownies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
